| | | IPTA TEACHERS’ CHARTER August 2013

IPTA exists to provide a resource for qualified Pilates teachers who want to take responsibility for their own professional development as a part of a mutually supportive network.
Membership of IPTA is by invitation of two or more of the association’s Founding Members. It is not an automatic outcome of completing a centrally determined syllabus. People will be asked to join if it is believed they will benefit from becoming a member and make a contribution to the group.
Individual members will have a range of training backgrounds and experience, they may also have additional qualifications informing the way they teach Pilates.
What can be expected from an IPTA teacher?
 They agree to:
 · Treat clients with dignity and respect and take account of their individual needs and objectives.
 · Teach Pilates with regard to the principles of the Pilates method.
 · Establish clearly the scope of their practice and teach within their competence, which will be determined by their training and experience.
 · Observe the professional teaching practices which were introduced in their original training.
 · Follow the relevant legislation concerning record keeping, data protection, health and safety and working with children and vulnerable adults.
 · Be adequately covered by professional insurance and hold a current First Aid certificate.
 · Refer clients to other Pilates teachers and/or other suitably qualified professionals if they feel it is in their clients’ best interests.
 · Have an approach to their professional development which is regularly reviewed and appropriate to their teaching practice.
 · Collaborate with other members of IPTA and participate in the running of the association. | | |
